I think maybe it is just a UK thing.

It is a day when all those supposedly hilarious zany madcap offbeat comics get together and do something for charity.

Originally the idea was that everybody would wear a red plastic nose. I actually thought that red nose day had quietly "died a death" but I could be wrong.

What a day! The countdown to Red Nose Day has well and truly begun with a huge array of stars celebrating the arrival of ‘The Big One’ at the British Airways London Eye.

Many of the famous faces set to be involved came along, including Russell Brand, The Sugababes, Girls Aloud, Davina McCall, Graham Norton Patrick Kielty, Claudia Winkleman and Lenny Henry.

Russell Brand was a particular fan of the biggest Red Nose ever, ‘Wearing this Nose is hardly an embarrassing feature compared to my hair!

"The night of Comic Relief is going to be fantastic with the creme of comedy getting involved - and me as well."

Talking about Red Nose Day itself on Friday 16 March, Lenny Henry added: "This year its all about doing something big - huge swear boxes in your offices, big lunches at work, and kids wearing big clothes at school.

"The nose is that big it even fits me - which is a first!"

Red nose day is a charity event to help poor people in africa have the means to lead a better life. One of the best charity events ever. Its led by comidian Lenny Henry. Class.
