No they are not required. If the employer offers them then they must be paid breaks but the law does not require two breaks along w/ lunch.

No, they are not required by law to do so. Most companies make their own policies, and the two 15 minute breaks(paid) and at least a 1/2 hour lunch(unpaid) are the norm. But, according to the US Dept. of Labor, they are not required to give you any of that. A company can rightfully work you 12 hours a day, 7 days a week if they want to without any of that. They are only required to pay you overtime for anything over 40 hours a week. Breaks and lunches are not guarantess, just the norm.

Generally speaking no, there is no state law as to the requirements that an employer puts on a job, nor on the benefits of the job. Most often that will be included in the union contract if it's a union plant. If not, it would be up to your immediate supervisor to make you aware of break and lunch times. Often times the NOC shift (midnight to 8 am) has not formal lunch break.

Two 15 minute coffee breaks and 1/2 lunch, your employer might just opt for an hour lunch instead of the two breaks. but call your Labour board and find out, it's free.

Yes it is. 1 hour total when working an 8.5 hour shift. 1/2 hour paid. 1/2 hour unpaid. usually split up into 1x30 minute break and 2x15 minute breaks.
