When the bell is first struck, and if the bell is struck hard, it could bring to mind the emotion of being shocked and afraid. If it is after the bell has been struck, as it is getting quieter, one might think of peace and calmness, or at least calming down after the initial shock. This may be why the gentle tap of a bell is used in meditation and relaxation.

I hope I helped ^.^

Alarm! Sadness. Joy.

If the reason the bell is ringing is known, it can trigger the appropriate emotion.
The reading of the names of those lost. (sadness)
The herald of a big event (new year, winning of a world game, etc). (joy)
or the frantic continuious ringing that is unexpected (Alarm)
