Can anyone suggest some college level, chemistry related research projects?

I really need a good idea for a future research project. I would like it to be chemistry related but if you have any other suggesions that are great, please let me know. I am completely cluless on what to do. I would also like it to be probably at a college level and have a significant purpose. Please, anything would be great...

In my experience, you go to a college or university, agree to work for a professor you like, and (s)he has a research program.
