Monogamy means married to one person or with one person. Bigamy and Polygamy refer to someone who is married to more than one person. So what I am asking is when someone has more than one partner and not married to any of them what is that called?? I could've sworn there is a word for that.

Some people use "polygamy" for that too. Others use "polyamory". So a person with more than one sexual partner is "polyamorous".

People who think this is a synonym for "promiscuous" or "unfaithful" really need to wake up to the fact that there are plenty of consenting adults, even married ones, who are openly polyamorous. It's not for everybody, but then neither is monogamy.

If the person in question is married, but having flings with other they are not married to - they are adulterous.

If they aren't married to ANYONE, and are merely sleeping around, they are merely fornicators.

Non-monogamous; polyamorous; swinger.

Promiscuous is simply someone who is getting more sex than you.
