You're confused. The Governor of Florida (then Jeb Bush) ordered Terri Schiavo kept alive, despite a bunch of legal rulings that said her husband was within his rights to tell the hospital to let her die. And she wasn't old, just in a vegetative state (like a coma) caused by a stroke years ago.

And why would any government want to get rid of people who break the law less often, and vote more often, than young people?

The government of the United States is owned and operated by massive corporate conglomerates who don't want to pay their older employees health care costs or retirement benefits, so they are trying to work them to death before they can retire. I believe a study done at an Ivy League college on the east coast found that the average Auto worker lives about 18 months after they retire, so it appears they have it down to a science.

In a word yes but not the way you are thinking. Americans are the most over medicated people in the world and by helping them to buy even more drugs the old will fall like flies.

No. And corporation want to keep them around too so they'll keep buying stuff. Government wants to keep them around to keep their taxes coming in. It's all about revenue.

Now some silly people believe that old farts pay no taxes but they pay property, sales and fuel taxes just like everyone else.
