It is a 1A school in a town just south of Livingston Texas the total attendance of the entire school K-12 is 300 enrolled. I live in Houston now and we have not moved yet, but are planning to this summer. I know for a fact they DO NOT have football TEXAS OR NOT THIS ONE SCHOOL DOES NOT HAVE IT!! The total attendance of the high school is approx. 75 students!

you name says Texas and I want to know what school in Texas doesn't at least have a 6 man team? How little of a 1a school is it?

Well if it is just of south Livingston could he not go to Livingston, Shepard or, Cold Springs. They all have football teams. Not very good teams or teams that will get him noticed but they do have teams. If he is wants to play at the college level, he will need proof of playing or have excellent size and ability.

And if you live a one horse town in the piney woods there will be no little league football unless you drive to a bigger town. Livingston might not even have a peewee program and beside little league football is really a joke.

I understand your frustration level because I am right there as well. It will be nearly impossible to get a coach to listen to you without looking at you like an over zealous parent and anything you say could impact the coach/player relationship. The very best thing to do is say nothing at all, and take into account that your son has already asked you not to, remember he is the one who is actually playing football and ultimately it will be his decision to approach the coach and discuss the reasons why he was being put in a different position. Coaches try to balance the team and so some skill players sometimes get the short end and get stuck in positions without any glory. Keep up with the camps, go to combines during the summer!! They are worth their weight in gold. My son is a Freshman who always started as a DE + TE/WR and special team kick off returns. He has gotten little to no playing time this year as a Freshman. We don't have a Freshman team. So it's JV OR Varsity, the coaches are starting a 5'5" 116 lb. Junior for the DE/TE position on both varsity and jv, and needless to say he's trampled on constantly. My son is 9 inches taller and about 70 lbs heavier than this junior. lol..and is extremely fast. But I'm guessing that since he's only a Freshman, the Junior get's the position. Our team is 0-3 right now only scoring 6 points so far this season with almost 100 point against us. :/ So far my sons played DE for the second half of the first game and had 4 QB sacks and 4 tackles, never allowing a yard to be gained when the ball ran on his side. We thought the coaches would for sure start him after that exhibit. But, the next game he played 2 plays, and the third game they only played him as TE for the first quarter and never threw him the ball. Our team is a joke right now, and the coaches are inexperienced and call bad plays....but the off season training is where your son will get recognition if he's talented. Find the camps and combines in which coaches are collegiate level or higher. Combines are often followed by letters from colleges. We've received about 8 letters from various small private colleges so far. These are also good to see where your son really does fall when he's training with other kids from different schools. The fullbacks I see at these camps are huge, typically 5'8 - 5'11, 200 -210 lbs. fast, flexible and can juke out most opponents. My son knows that to really get a shot at a D1 school as a TE /DE he's going to have to weight train and speed train to the max and hopefully grow a few more inches even though he's already 6'2 but if he doesn't grow more he will be looking at a linebacker position instead where height isn't such a factor. So forget about the High school coaches because if your son trains as hard and aspires to be as good as the top dogs of his age around your state, he will get much more than some playing time in high school.

Some areas do offer little league football. Ask around. If not maybe you can get one started. Maybe another high school in your area which does. You might have to pay tuition. The high school I went to didn't have football because it was too small, but I went to college anyway. He can still play football somewhere and small community colleges with football teams might be easier to get on. Then he can go on elsewhere.Try McKendree College when he gets ready for college. 1-800-BEARCAT for more information ,or go to:http://www.mckendree.edu/

Change Schools if he is that good? It also depends on what position he plays? Football is big in Texas!! Go to a High School that has a good football program??There is Pop Warner Football If you weigh less than 150lbs. I recommend you to pick the best sport for your son since he is starting High School??

If the high school he goes to doesn't offer it he should be able to play for another nearby school without having to transfer...at least thats the way it is here with most sports...not totally sure because everything in our county pretty much has the same sports

definitely go to a new school

you dont necessarily need a scholarship to play college football but it helps. Im pretty sure they hold open tryouts though, even the pros do that. If you cant get a scholarship or into a good football college, your best bet is the open tryouts

Well, you can either move to another school.
Write or Call the school, and see if they can start a football team.
Sign him up in another league, like if your church has one.
Start your own team!
