How many years does it count? Because some people told me that 2 years at a community college means only 1 year at a university or college.

Depending on the amount of credits you've accumulated while at community college, here in California at least, that amounts to about 2 years at a normal university. You've mainly gotten the general education requirements over with and are ready to pursue more core classes in your chosen major. Most people will go on for another 2-3 years after community college. Although, there are several people now who take more than just general education classes at the community college level. By checking with your counselor, you can take classes offered at a community college that will transfer and count towards the core requirements for a major at a 4-year school. Of course you are at community college for longer than 2 years, but I have known some people that due to taking classes like that, they only spent one year at a 4-year before graduating.

Theoretically, 2 years at a community college equals 2 years at a college or university. But sometimes that varies - some people have to take a lot of remedial courses at community college, for example, and that will set them back. Also, the school you transfer into might make you take more courses for your major than you can fit into two years (possibly because they aren't offered every year). So it can depend.

It's equivalent. So 2 years at a CC = 2 years at a University
