If you dont even care to restore windows, Im guessing you are really serious about just quickly permanently erasing all the data on your hard drive, Ill remind you the only way to actually do that is to physically destroy the hdd, and soak it in Acid. LOL
But contact me at BigCardinalsFan@msn.com via instant messenger if possible, I might be able to hook you up with a program that will help.

If you are running win xp now the only way you can format the drive is during the installation of windows, it gives you that option. So you will need a XP disk to do it. Go through the steps and it will let you format.

no
the command prompt runs under the operating system host and thus is protected ( locked ) and you cannot format
if you have a bootable floppy drive you can download bootable floppy images from bootdisk.com and look for the aforementioned dban' boot and nuke. keep in mind formatting does not erase anything, it just resets the mbr and the fat tables, you can still recover data from a formatted drive both ntfs and fat32 formats. a 98se boot disk will not format a ntfs partion unless you run kill disk first
