All the research I've done says its only bad because the color can fade, and it can be a little distorted if its in a place that will stretch. I want one on each of my shoulder blades. My hubby wont let me get it. I was just wondering what you thought.

To the idoit who said I'm not ready to be a mother, I already have a son. And its not just waiting a few months, 9months for the pregnancy, and then another year for breastfeeding.

My brother -in -law is a tatoo artist I know he would never tatoo a pregnant woman. # 1 will the chance of disease from needles is rare in a good joint that uses an autoclave machine is low that doesn't mean it won't get infected later. #2 you body is carring alot of extra fluid when you are pregnant and this can lead t distortion of the the tatoo and you not being happy with the outcome (then to late it's forever) plus it could also mean excess bleeding form being tattooed. Probably not enough to make you weak but enough to make it hard on the artist doing the tatoo and the area a little extra sore.
I would wait and and work on your design you want and make it perfect once the baby is hear go for it and you will be tatally pleased with the end result.

True about the stretching thing & I would wait until after the baby is born - esp. since there is always a slight risk of blood transferred diseases (Hepatitis, etc.) and the stress it puts on the body probably isn't healthy for the time being.

I would wait until I had my baby. Just to be safe. I know a lot of tattoo places are sterile and use clean needles, but you never know if the ink is bad for your baby. I had a friend that was pregnant and her husband is a tattoo artist. He didn't tattoo her until she had there son. I'm assuming he did that for a reason. So I would wait.

Not a good idea, for the reasons you listed.

Also, I have 4 tats myself, and one of the questions they ask is "Are you pregnant?", so any reputable tattoo shop won't do it & you probably don't want to go to one that isn't.

I think you're hubby is right. Best to just wait it out. It won't kill you to wait a few months, will it? Then you won't have to worry about fading and stretch marks ruining it and such.

I would say it is probably OK, but why dont you ask you doctor or other health care professional first, but if you do, just make sure that they are state licensed and have a clean record with the health dept. first....but you might be better off waiting till after you give birth.

I know several tattoo artist and they WILL NOT tattoo a pregnant woman. And it isnt because of fading ink! Stress, of any kind, on the body while pregnant is not healthy for you or your baby.

Most tattooist will not give a pregnant woman a tat anyways. It just depends on what they believe. I got my first tat when I was 3 months with my lil girl. But I swished tattooist and he will not do it for me. He is making me wait. It just depends........

my tattoo artist said "no". even hair dye doesn't always turn out right when you're pregnant. I wouldn't want something so permanent to turn out funky because i couldn't wait a few months.

I wouldn't, the risk of transmitting illnesses is too great. Do it afterward, a few months is not long to wait.
