I know its not the head phones as it is a problem with all my headphones. Any ideas?

If it is just some songs it may be due to copy protection some songs come up with static when they are ripped or have time expired.
Otherwise take them back

attempt unplugging your speaker, and replace it which comprise your headphone jack, if this artwork.. then something isn't bypassing the "override" command you suggested yet enable me be attentive to the way it is going and that i will attempt to interchange my placed up.
