ok so i went for a pap smear yesterday... and after the pap smear. and then, too much of my delight ( yeah right) i started to bleed and i had slight cramps for most of yesterday.. First has this ever happened to anyone? and second why did it happen?...should i go back and get checked?

The doc may have been a little overzealous in collecting a sample... the scarping can cause in a little blood…. more than just a little blood? maybe you period was just about due anyway? if it doesn’t seem like a normal period go to a different doc.

Are you bleeding heavily? That's not normal.
Sometimes a PAP smear can set off your period, and mine always causes me to cramp.
There are some tests they do that will cause you to bleed, but these tests are quite painful and are done after they find abnormal cells in your pap test.
By the way for all you ladies, having sex the day of your test will cause an abnormal test.

You have a sensitive cervix. You should be fine by tomorrow.
Go to the doctor if the pain or bleeding doesn't go away after 72hrs. A slightly warm heat pack might help you.
It happened to me last year when I went for a pap smear whilst I was ovulating.
Take painkillers and avoid exercise for 2 days.

What you experienced is normal, don't freak out! Sometimes when your Dr is checking around during your pap there can be irritation. I'm assuming this bleeding wasn't any significant amount and stopped soon after it started? Personally I wouldn't worry but better safe than sorry talk to your Dr if you're really concerned.

It is normal to bleed after a pap smear. It has never happened to me, but I know some women that bleed after they have one done. It should stop soon, just wear a panty liner or pad until it goes away :)

Yeah it happened to me It turned out I had endodrmetes. Sorry I don't know how to spell it. Hope you ok!!

That is normal. No need to worry. Your doctor should have told you to expect that.

Don't worry, it's normal. It should only be for a day or two.
