People all over the world should turn off their lights and
electrical appliances on the first of February 2007, between 1.55 pm and 2.00 pm in New
York, 18.55 for London, and 19.55 for Paris, Bruxelles, and Italy. 1.55pm in Ottawa,
10.55am on the Pacific Coast of North America; 12.55 in Saskatoon!

This is not just about saving 5 minutes worth of electricity; this
is about getting the attention of the media, politicians, and
ourselves.

Five minutes of electrical down time for the planet: this does not
take long, and costs nothing, and will show all political leaders that global
warming is an issue that needs to come first and foremost in political debate.

If "everybody" did this, it might be a big problem. After the five minutes the grid would get hit all at once by everyone turning everything back on. Politically I absolutely see the point, but from a practical standpoint, it might be a catastrophe? (Circuits blowing, hospitals or people at home on life supporting devices without power. Traffic accidents. These calamities may dilute the issue that was vying for attention.)

Someone knowledgeable in the utilities may feel this is unlikely - but it should be looked at first before promoting something rash.

Global warming is a function of solar activity and not human activity.
The process has repeated itself for thousands of years and will continue to do so. Save the electricity by turning off the TV that is mostly a mouthpiece for environmental extremists.

As a foil to the stupidity of blaming humans for this natural cycle, I intend to fire up every appliance and electrical item I can! I have lots of power tools in the garage, too. I cant wait!
