I think true love inspires people to better themselves; consequently, they make the world a better place to live. When people have true love in their hearts, they do good things for others, support their family, and inspire their fellow man to grow. So, in my opinion, yes, loves does make the world go round.

No. Love convinces people to take silly risks, to trust people who haven't earned it, and to look no farther into the future than the present. Love is a fool's game. Nobody ever remembers the soul crushing pain that love brings everytime.

First the definition of true love.

If you use the Princess Bride theory of true love, well then, it only happens once in a thousand years. If you use the real world definition of true love, it is a bit more ambiguous.

The ancient Greeks had a few different words to describe the different kinds of love.

Love mothers feel toward their children.

The love a brother feels toward his brother or sister for that matter.

The sensual love between the sexes. With out this there would be no babies and we would become extinct so yes, this does make the world go round.

And principled love.

This is the thing that makes us want to help a total stranger when we see them in distress. Help a neighbor shovel snow, a little old lady carry something heavy. Yes, this too makes the world go round.

Otherwise we would be tripping over the little old ladies who have fallen in the snow and could not get up and the whole world would come to a stop.

Perhaps it might be better to say true loving relationship. Everyone has their own definition of a loving relationship.

When two people get together who have the same definition, they have something wonderful.

Make the World go round? Well, it would keep going but it would not be as fun.

I do believe men need women more than women need men when it comes to the thing we call love. Look at women who have never been married and they are socially what we would consider normal.

Men on the other hand tend to become introverted, self centered, and demanding in the absence of receiving the love of a woman other than their mother. Not all of course, but in my experience, the majority.

So love does make the world a better place when it comes from other than our family and we extend ourselves to receive and give it.

Call me jaded, but can you definitavely define what "true love" is?

Personally, it's been a long time since I've been ispired by my fellow man. And if true love is what makes the world go round (figuratively speaking of course) then I'm sure the world will stop spinning soon given the obvious lack of love in the world right now.

So in my humble opinion, love does not make the world go round. It seems that war, pestilence, intolerance, hate, and the eternal struggle for power do. If you disagree, that's fine but have a look at the state of the world before you do. It's pretty bad out here.
