On your x axis you will want to label hours from midnight to midnight (one notch for each hour).

On your y axis you will want to label inches of rainfall from 0 to say 8.

Make your first point at (8:00am, 0 inches)

Make your next point at (12:00 noon, 3 inches)

Make your third point at (4:00 pm, 5 inches)

Connect these 3 points with a continuous line. If you want to predict rainfall for the remainder of the day, assuming it continues to rain at the same rate, carry the line onward using the same slope (from noon to 4 pm it rained 2 inches, so 1/2 inch every hour).
