When I was dating my ex, boyfriend who happens to be Salvadorain, people keep on asking us "are you going to have kids?" or they kept on saying "you're kids are going to look really beautiful because you're both exotic." "your kids are going to have long and good hair" Ugh!! It gets so irritating sometimes. What's wrong non-mixed children? Aren't they cute too? People don't say the same thing when I'm with a Black guy.

I've been to Rio de Janeiro, and let me tell you, race-mixing can be a very beautiful thing! Of course there are plenty of beautiful 100% blacks too, but my personal opinion is mixed race women on the whole look better than "racially pure" ones.

I am white and have two white parents, but I have three second cousins who are biracial and I love them all just the way they are. My parents are racist and always hating my cousins and I could never understand why. It's not really about the color or ethnicity of the person, though, it's more about stereotypes formed about those people. I don't see racism much because my race is a majority, but I went to Washington D.C. and rode on a bus. The only people on the bus were me and the group I was with, so there were plenty of seats left in the front but yet some black people got on and still sat way in the back of the bus. As far as interracial relationships go, I don't really see how it matters. A person is a person is a person.

I don't think they mean any harm. I am a Jamaican (dark skinned) married to my white husband for 10 years this year. Before we got married and before we started a family, people asked us the same question. When we had our son, just about everyone we meet tell us how beautiful he and he should be a model. We signed him with an agency and the first assignment he got he didn't auditioned for, they choose him based on just seeing his photo. When we got to the shoot, everyone was saying how handsome he was. I remember saying my husband, they see beautiful children everyday and he said to me because he is exotic. I do agree that my son is handsome, and it's not because he is biracial. Just because he is my son. I have a nephew who is just as handsome as my son and he isn't biracial. Don't take it the wrong way, it's different for a lot of people and it's also a sign that society is more accepting of mixed couples.

First off, I just want to thank you for the question. I've experienced the same thing and it's truly sad. Unfortunately, it comes from the notion that Blacks are unattractive, even from our own people. I've never had another Black person tell me that babies with another Black would be beautiful, but just the opposite with someone outside of the race. Also just look at the responses that you got to this question. How many of them said that mix people were more beautiful? It's self hatred plain and simple.
Now, I have nothing against interracially dating (I love Asian men), but please don't date someone of another race out of self hate for yourself like Tiger Woods and Michael Jackson-it's just sad.

I'm sure they mean no disrespect; on the contrary I think it's showing that people's minds are beginning to open on the subject of interrational relationships. That they think exotic children are beautiful shows that people are beginning to encourage the idea of people of different races being together. That is not to say that non-mixed children aren't beautiful, but that the rarity of seeing a child from different races is welcomed.

it's because kids with a mixed background come out with the best of both worlds...half the time. no one ever mentions the ugly mixed kids that get the worst. i think it's crap when people say non mixed people are uglier than mixed. it makes me want to hit them for being so ignorant. if youre hot, then your babies will be hot too, thats all that should matter.

I think it is complete crap that if you have mixed raced kids, they will be beautiful, it all depends on genetics, some black children look cute, some do not, some white kids look cute, some do not, being of mixed race does not guarantee beauty.

Maybe that some people are so disgusted with all the problems related with racism in the world that when they see a mixed couple, they think "it's possible" ! And are happy of that, wich makes them a kind of positive feeling.

An other idea is that there is a kind of insane thing related with that. People like "exotic" kids==> for them, what is important in a kid is his appearence.

Maybe the black guys you date aren't cute. (Ha. That was supposed to be a joke. I couldn't resist.)

I've heard people say that before, too. There is something pretty about "mixed" people. It's supposed to be a compliment, but I can see why it might annoy you. My kid is African-American and I think shes the cutest kid that ever lived!

Maybe people think "mixed" people are attractive because it combines lots of familiar elements. Studies about beauty have shown that people tend to find beauty in the familiar...people who are a blend of people they love. "Mixed" people pull together many familiar or loveable traits cross culturally.
