And the name of the painting if you know. I think the subject is a woman. It was 300+/- years ago...?

The painting is a 15th-Century work called "The Madonna with Saint Giovannino," but the artist is unknown (see attached link; you may have to scroll down a little).

It's The Madonna and St John, attributed to Fra Filippo Lippi (1406-1469) and kept at the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy.
