I was an exchange student to Japan through Youth For Understanding.
It was a summer program, and I had a lot of fun.
While we traveled as a group, once we got there we split and went with our families.
Exchange programs are a very good way to learn about culture, language, and mostly yourself.
I highly recommend that you look into it.

I am currently an exchange student. It has been 6 months that i live with my American Host family. Eventhougj in the begining i was very home- sick i still think that this is a great experience and you can learn a lot.
If you plan to be an exchange student i would courage you to do so. I hope that you will have a great experience.
