Without meaning to sound bossy, if your dog isnt pregnant already, dont do it!

There are so many unwanted dogs already and many of them get put down for want of homes. A lab will typically have about 8 pups, sometimes more... and what if Mum goes into labour and needs a caesar? can you afford that or any other medical care that might come your way? To say nothing of food, innculations, neutering etc.

Sorry to sound so negative but both my dogs are rescue ones and the little lady I had before them was due to be put to sleep the day I took her from a council shelter just cos there were more dogs coming in and there wasn't room to keep her any longer. She was 8 when I took her and had to be put to sleep at 14 as she had cancer... I had several wonderful years with the sweetest dog you could wish for... but she would have been dead at 8 had I not chosen to walk into the shelter the day that I did.

Please think very carefully. If your dog is already pregnant please call your local shelter, dog warden and vet for as much advice as you can get.

hiya, i bred my labradors last year , in our litter they had 10, the only way you'll find out is to breed her and then have her scanned at the vet who will be able to tell you how many heartbeats he can pick up, it's hard to say how many because all labradors have different amounts, they're gorgeous when they're born i wanted to keep our 10 but only kept 1, good luck if you do breed her :)

Labradors I have done caesarians on have had anywhere between 3 and 8 pups I have heard of a litter of 10. so I am guessing that you won't be able to keep all the pups

They can have up to 11 or 12 in a litter, although 6-9 are more normal.

She has, of course, had her hips scored and her eyes tested? Otherwise you could be sued by any owners whose puppies subsequently develop health problems. And the sire needs to have a low hip score & clear eyes too. If you don't know how many puppies a Labrador is likely to have, I suggest you leave breeding to more knowledgeable breeders. You could even lose your b1tch if you continue.

If your female never has pups she won't miss them; buts its cruel to only let her have one litter. It awakens their maternal instinct, and she'll crave more pups for the rest of her life. She may adopt small items from around the house and treat them as pups, which some ignorant owners think is cute. Its not, it means she's upset.
Professional breeders don't let their females have just one litter. She won't be the same pet afterwards.

they can have between 12 and 14 puppies,
they don't have a small litter i know
just pick one that you bond with when they are born as you will only stress yourself if you have a few,
remember they all need walking and all the other things a dog needs,
and your life is not your own as when you want to go away you will find it hard for someone to properly look after them.
just enjoy one

Labradors usually have large litters 5 or more.Depending on how many times you've bred her and how old she is.

You're making bread out of your dog? You can do that?

You need to NOT breed your dog.

Leave it to the pros.
