She lives down stairs from me because I rent from her mother and she's too 'special' to have a job and support herself, her child and her unborn baby. So she does these really stupid petty things, like having huge loud parties when she knows my husband has to be at work at 5am and my son is trying to sleep. She throws things up the stairs to irritate me. Today I came home from work and she had thrown her half of this old keychain she got us years back (best friend keychains). She is acting so idiotic, childish and ridiculous and I don't know how to handle it. I'm about to go down there and speak to her mother about this, but I don't think that's a good idea. What would you do about it? What do you recommend?

Just to let you know, she is 34 years old, so I'm not dealing with a child here.

I already posted this but got no responses, please advice me on this issue. I am at a loss.

Not an option, Jersy Girl, for a couple of reason. One being that we are trying to save to buy a house and another is that without our rent her mom would have to sell the house and she doesn't want to.

I just sent this email to her mother:

I am very tired of Suzi throwing stuff up the stairs. Please tell her to stop it. If she doesn't want something she doesn't need to put it on me to get rid of it. There is a garbage in the house downstairs and she can dispose of whatever object is bothering her, or tags or papers or whatever. It is a very childish game, something that someone in highschool would do not a 34 year old who is expecting her second child. I just want to live my life, move on from all of what has happened. I just want it to be over and done with. I would really appreciate it.

Thank you

Thanks everyone for your advice.

as a tenant you're given specific rights
talk to your landlord, who cares if it happens to be her mother
ask her to notify ALL her tenants, her daughter included, that noise after a certain hour is NOT allowed (it's 10 pm weekdays and 11 pm weekends here)
if the noise doesn't stop, file a formal complaint with your landlord
if that doesn't work, then you'll have to consider moving or calling the police
perhaps, if you threaten to move out, your "landlord" will be forced to take action, to prevent her from having to sell her house?

Why would you talk to her mother? If she is 34 she knows what she is doing. It's sad that your friendship is over, but life happens . So if you rent from her mother, it's time you and your husband found a place of your own.

Call the cops, and cps. That should do the trick. Report anonymously. Ex is the key word so why give a crap.

I'm sure your hubby would be glad to make the call.

Try to ignore her, but that doesn't seem possible....Move out.
You can't keep on going like that. But before moving out ask her
what her problem is, and see if she gives a straight, truthful
answer. if she doesn't...leave.

Okay so you are paying rent there. Then you have every right to complain. I would complain to her mother and anybody else that would listen.

Why is your ex still relevant? If he is in the past, keep him there.
