What are the most techinologically advanced inventions that are still being worked on, haven't been revealed, and have JUST exclusively come out? (not iPhone or anything everyone knows about)

In the realm of technology, there is still the push for faster computers, more storage capacity, and longer battery life. Technologies like optical processors that use light to perform calculations are being researched. Also, quantum computers that use the spin states of individual atoms are being investigated. Storage capacity is being explored with holographic storage, biotech storage (storing information in chemicals like DNA stores all the information needed to create life). Longer battery life is being explored with hydrogen fuel cells and materials that soak up gaseous hydrogen like giant sponge to avoid super high pressure storage tanks.

Energy sources like hydrogen fusion reactors or high efficiency, inexpensive solar panels are being explored.

In medicine cloning, genetic engineering, stem cell research are all being pursued intently by many groups.

I teach computers and tell my students that what is coming out in scientific literature and in the newspapers in general shows that some of the most important fields for the future are data base programming, health care, accounting that will help people to face outrageous health care costs, and most importantly, programming for portable devices.

So, if someone can invent the code or invent the apparatus that will dominate the market for portable devices, they will be far bigger than Microsoft, IBM and all of Europe together.

So what does that mean? You have to figure out how to create a phone or PDA or game device that will do everything and then take over the world. That means it will replace telephones, cameras, Disk players, messengers, pagers, video cameras, sound recording device, etc.

Whoever perfects, programs, promotes or sells such devices will get super rich fast.
