Yes, it is normal for a mom who cares about you to want to help you to study. I guess you are afraid to tell her because she wanted to help you in the first place. Just tell her. I don't know why you don't have time to study, but it is pretty important to make the time. Sometimes it just comes down to time-management. Do you spend too much time on one subject? I tell my kids to allot their time well---if you have three things to study and you have five hours that evening, then divide your time. It helps you push yourself to finish each thing.

I try to help my kids with making flash cards (one is in the sixth grade, the other in eighth grade) for rote memorization. Don't count on just READING something and then remembering it. I make them WRITE the flash cards out, and then try and recall history facts. We recall better when we involve reading and writing.

You should ask the teacher for extra credit and maybe a way to raise the grade. Maybe you should ask the teacher or professor or w/e ask to redo the test. or just tell your parents, and tell them you really tried, and remind her of something you did good, persuade her that u can still make back the points you lost
