Like the other answers have said weathering in the key to forming sediments from granite. An easy way to tell if sediments are formed from granite is to look for feldspars and micas as well as silica (quartz). If it is freshly weathered and hasn't been transported far look for angular grains. Also weathered granite is called arkose.

The rock weathers away, the particles are carried by water and deposited somewhere; when the sediment is compressed into stone it's a sedimentary rock. But I'm not sure how you would know it came from granite to start with, and it certainly wouldn't be called granite any more.

There's an old geologist joke about a gneiss guy who got sick of being taken for granite and metamorphosed into a real schist-head.

igneous rock can turn into sedimentary rock by the process called weathering. There are 2 types of weathering-physical and chemical.when igneous rock is exposed to the earth surface there will many factors such as the activity of organism will effect the structure of the rock.weathering turn the rock by reducing the size of the rock and when this process happen in a long period time the rock will turn into sediment.
