Comparing players in different era is silly. It's like asking your grandpa to fix your iPod for you. Your granpa might be able to fix a turntable (some of you don't even know what a turntable is), but not an iPod. You get the point? ;)

Looking at Serena and Venus's pairing record, they seem to be the winner. If Billie Jean King and Chris Evert are of the same era as the Williams sisters, all in their prime time, I think the former will have better composure on court. But based on talent, maybe the sisters will prevail.

BJ King and Evert at their prime will barely be No 10 in the world. King was mainly a serve-and-volley player. With the modern tennis rackets and power game, the serve-N-volley game is not practical for women's tennis right now. Evert did not have a second serve and she was not particulary a good mover. A good comparison between Evert and a modern player is Dementieva (spelling?). Except, Dementieva is bigger, stronger, and faster than Evert.

They wouldn't stand a chance. They're from a former era of grace in tennis. The girls these days would whoop them. Look at Martina Hingis, probably the last of that type of player, smart court skills and not just a power game...all about placement. She holds her own now, but cannot beat the power hitters. Esp. the big servers.

Billie Jean nor Chris could handle the speed and the power in today's game. Martina at her best would have the best chance.

I think that BJK and CE would do just fine because they would have access to the same training, fitness, and weight programs that the players have today. The real question is, would the top players today be able to play in the era that they played in. Wood racquets! nuff said

Completely umcomparable. Players today use different racquet technology, shoes, faster balls, and are also physically primed. you can rate them against today's players based on achievement against the players of their times. like m compare tournaments, matches, grandslams won.

They wouldn't stand a chance. The players today are much stronger and faster than they ever were.

I don't think they would even make it past the first round. Tennis has become much faster, aggressive and furious in recent times, and the older players certainly wouldn't survive this onslaught.

All else considered equal, they can probably hold their own quite superbly.
