I believe that you make choices on your own, but whatever choice you make deals you a certain fate. So pretty much a mix of fate and making your own luck, in my opinion♥

I think whatever happens is mostly based on what you've done in the past. If I don't pay my rent, my 'fate' is that I will eventually get evicted.

I dont believe that you have a predetermined life story. I do believe that no matter what you do about some things, you will always end up with the result that would have always come.
