The cleverest person who has ever lived on this planet was the caveman or cavewoman who saw that the guy over there had wood, but no meat, and that the guy on the other side had meat but no wood, and that he or she had neither. So this clever individual put those other two together, taking a little of each's store for the effort. In other words, this caveperson invented "taking a piece of the action"!

Physicist, I would think. He started off as an experimentalist, with a lab filled with instruments. I saw a fine picture of his table-top equipment; it was just great.
