I've been to Venice lots of times (love it!) and am going again in March. Can anyone recommend any 'off the beaten track', unusual or little-known places or buildings that might be of interest, something different that I might not have seen yet? Thanks!

if you cross the grand canal directly in front of the train station there is a small piazza. there is a very strange looking manhole cover in the middle of it. totally worth the trip just to see it............i think

If you have not toured the Phoenix Theatre (Teatro la Fenice), it is definitely worth a visit: http://www.teatrolafenice.it/
Truly mind-boggling.
Also, if you have not taken a boat to the town of Burano, known for its lace, you should definitely go. Very charming, and the food is great (try the soft-shelled crabs - moeche).
