I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I got pregnant while on birth control pills, and also while taking the depo shot. I went to my doctor pleading for answers. We did some labs, and come to find out, my body does not respond to "hormonal" methods of birth control. I was given the option of getting an IUD from him. So, its very possible. However, I believe it's pretty rare. Also, things like not taking the pill as directed can have an inpact on how effective they are.

If you miss a pill or forget to take it alot and have sex than yes it is possible to be pregnant. But if you take it as you should than no. You should wait at least six months before trying to become pregnant after coming off the pill.

The pill isn't 100% effective. But if your just having irregular periods, my doctor told me it could take at least 3 months after you start the pill for your periods to be regular again. As far as how long it takes once you stop taking the pill: I was pregnant about 2 weeks after stopping my pills.

They have done a research that proves that the low dose BC pills are less effective than the regular ones. I got pregnant on the Yasmin pills. It is possible and could happen at anytime. I would also use a condom or spermicide to be really careful. Good luck.

The pill, even when taken correctly, is only 96-98% effective, depending on the brand (read the little pamphlet that came with yours to find out its effectiveness) so yes its possible. Add to that not everyone takes them exactly as directed and the effectiveness goes down. Also, other drugs can counteract its effectiveness, so you should always call your pharmacist to find out if you should use an alternative method (even for over the counter medications). Lastly, alcohol decreases the effectiveness. It's important to read and understand all the information in that pamphlet included with your "pill."

I do not see how you can get pregnant while on the pill if you take it everyday at the same time without missing one pill.
