I have so many. Some for obvious reasons (Like Gandalf) and some for less obvious reasons. So I'll give you my top 5 list and go from there 1. Gandalf - for obvious reasons 2. Goldberry (wife of Tom Bombadil) and Eowyn (Shield-maiden of Rohan) - They're tied in my mind because they're two sides of the same coin. They are both the embodiment of feminine grace and beauty but they both show us in their own way what a woman is truly capable of. They are both loving and supportive of those they love while still having the strength to stand on their own two feet. Eowyn killed a Nazgul to defend those she loved. Even Gandalf never accomplished such a task. 3. Faramir and Merry - Also tied in my mind. Faramir is such an amazing character. He reminds the reader of Aragorn, but not as high. He is proud, noble and true. When he gave his word to Frodo that even if he found the ring on the side of the road and it had no bearer, even if all Gondor lay in ruin and he alone could save her, not even then would he take up this thing, so perilous that it caused his brother to fail. That is the Faramir I love so very much. And Merry. Ah Merry. So much can be said of his quiet wisdom and unexpected courage. So much credit is given to Sam for being Frodo's one true friend that they forget Merry and Pippin were right there. Before they even left the Shire, Merry and Pippin conspired with Sam to make sure Frodo did not go on his journey alone. They knew the risks involved long before they ever set out but their love of their cousin would not let him go face that danger alone. (Pippin should also be in this spot, but I like merry just a little bit more) 4. Pippin - For reasons previously mentioned 5. Aragorn - The noble king, spending 60+ years quietly working to regain his throne and his kingdom. Master of men and beasts, farseeing with the ability to read the hearts and minds of lesser men. He is everything you could want in a noble king of men, while at the same time, he is Strider - Rough and rugged ranger of the North.

Tough. I'd say Eowyn, followed by Boromir and Pippin. But Eowyn wins, because she's cool, she's a great horsewoman, she kicks serious butt, she's not afraid of anyone, and she's a good person. A good role model for the modern-day young woman.

But I also love Boromir and Pippin.

Gollum, and Aragorn.

They're mysteriously, complicated individuals. Gollum, my goodness...........wow what a character. Probably my favorite of the two because, he's got the whole split-personality thing going on. Which also could be labeled as schizophrenia.....haha i love it!!

Galadriel. I love Cate Blanchett. The character was better in the books, though.
