The Vietnam war....it would have never happend....

I would not change a thing. You never know what you will get. If we hadn’t had the second world war, then the Nazi party and ideology might have spread peacefully, with horrendous consequences.

Without WWII developments in medical science, flight (jet engines) and space, would not have happened, or much later. Without the invention of the atomic bomb, there would not have been a balance of power to prevent all-out war with the Soviet Union.

If the war in Vietnam had not happened, it would still be a French colony where (as in all colonies, I am Dutch myself and ours where no exception) the local population would suffer from their oppressing colonial regimes. Spilling sweat and blood to swell the tide of their ruler’s glory.

What would you like to change the past for? Changing the present to improve the future seems challenging enough for me.

Good question. There have been a lot of social injustices throughout the years (both in US and world events,) but many of them became the spark that led to even greater successes and events.

For example...JFK's assassination was both devastating to us as a nation (and may have furthered the Vietnam war, which he seemed to be against) but losing him inspired many others to be more active and dedicated.

Same way with Dr. M.L. King.

Or the loss of the World Trade Centers.

So it's hard to pick something that changing would make better, and even then it's very subjective...what would be important to me may not mean anything to the next person.

Guess I'd want to be more decisive! (LOL!!)

Slavery days, the way people were treated when they were taken from Africa and brought here to be slaves. I would also like to change the way the lynching happened in the south, what horrors of innocent people getting killed just because of their skin. Also the concentration camps in Germany, the many people that were killed because of genocide. I would have made this a loving and peaceful world in which we would have flourished. =)
