OK...let me see if I have ti correctly (you wrote stuff so that it was confusing).

You have a bag of marbles containing 16 Blue, 8 Green, 9 Red, 5 Black, and 12 Yellow.

First, we ADD everything together to see how many TOTAL marbles are in the bag; 16+8+9+5+12 = 50 Marbles.

The "probability" is the "percent chance" you will pull out a specific color marble from the bag.

For Blue, the probability is 16 out of 50. This is written as 16/50. As a decimal, this is 0.32. Multiply this by 100%, and you get 32%. So you have a 32% chance of reaching into your bag of 50 marbles of pulling out a BLUE one !

For green; 8/50 = 0.16 0.16(100%) = 16%
For red; 9/50 = 0.18 0.18(100%) = 18%
For black; 5/50 = 0.1 0.1(100%) = 10%
For yellow; 12/50 = 0.24 0.24(100%) = 24%

To CHECK your answers, add up all the percentages, and you SHOULD have 100 %....let's see;
32 % + 16 % + 18 % + 10 % + 24 % = 100 %...YEP, we're good !

Hope this helps...good luck !

I will assume we are not putting the marbles we draw out back into the bag before each draw. (Since we draw green, black and blue twice each, it makes the most sense to understand this to be the intent of the problem.) That means the chance of drawing each in the order listed is the following list. Notice that the number of marbles decreases by 1 after each draw and that the colors drawn twice show 1 less marble available the second draw.

green: 8 / 50 = .1600 * 100 = 16.00%
black: 5 / 49 = .1020 * 100 = 10.20%
yellow: 12 / 48 = .2500 * 100 = 25.00%
blue: 16 / 47 = .3404 * 100 = 34.04%
green: (8 - 1) / 46 = .1522 * 100 = 15.22%
blue: (16 - 1) / 45 = .3333* 100 = 33.33%
red: 9 / 44 = .2045 * 100 = 20.45%
black: (5 - 1) / 43 = .0930 * 100 = 9.30%

As you can see above, all you have to do to change a decimal into a percentage is multiply the decimal by 100 and add the "%" sign.

You might have also wanted to know how likely it is to be able to actually draw all those particular marbles in the order listed. To find out, you multiply each percentage (well, the decimal forms anyhow!) all together and the result, no matter how small, is your answer. For instance, if you have a 1 in 5 chance of some particular thing happening and then a 1 in 3 chance of it happening again, your chance of it happening those two times in a row would be 1/3 of 1/5 or .3333 * .2000 = .06667 (1/15). The answer is: 0.000134% or just a wee bit over one chance in a million!

So... good luck facing that draw... Even Vegas has better odds than that!

First, you need to know how many marbles all together - in this case it is 50 marbles. This number will be known as you denominator (from how many).

Next, you make it into a fraction by placing the number of marbles in question, let's say 12 yellow, on top. This number is known as the numerator (how many). Your ratio fraction is 12/50, which reduces to 6/25.

Now, to change it to a percentage you must divide the Numerator by the Denominator. So 12 yellow marbles divided by all 50 marbles gives you a decimal - 0.24. Multiplied by 100 (just move the decimal place right 2 places) and you get your percentage of 24%.

This means you have a 6 in 25 or 24% chance (probability) of pulling a yellow marble out of the whole collection of marbles.

These numbers also can be shown in playing cards, what is your chance (probability) of pulling a particular card? There are 5 cards in each suit with a value of 10 or more, the 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace. The probability of drawing any one card (suit and value) is only 1 in 52, or 1.9%. To pull the card of a value but of any suit is a chance of 1 in 13, or 7.7%. To pull any face card (jack, queen, king) is 3 in 13 or 23.1%. To pull a card worth 10 or more is 5 in 13 or 38.5%!

There are many ways to use fractions, ratios, and percentages. when you hear of numbers, try to think about the percentage and the ratio. You will find it can be fun, and it is good to understand how the world works. Good Luck!

8 out of 16 are green, expressed as 8/16, etc. so you also have 9/16 and 5/16. Cross multiply with n/100 and divide to get the percentage.

add up the total # of marbles then pick a color of marbles and make it a fraction, divide bottom into top take decimal point move it 2 the right 2 spaces and slap a % sign on it

blue 16out of 38
green 8 out of 38
red 9 out of 38
black 5 out of 38

to get % take the first number divide it by the second then times by 100.
so that gives you.
blue 42.1%
green 21%
red 23.7%
black 13.2%
