Downloading music and movies - Is it becoming accepted?
Why does stealing from a shop and downloading music "feel" morally different? Is it because friends are doing it too?

To answer why stealing from a shop feels different than stealing music online is because downloading music is not stealing.

Stealing is taking a physical item from a store/person so that owner no longer is the owner of it. Downloading simply copies a song/movie/program thus it is not stealing, it is copyright infringement.

Furthermore, there is no evidence that downloading is hurting the RIAA as much as it claims. Why can't the RIAA lower the cost of CD's? The cost of producing a CD has decreased dramatically since the release of CD's but the average cost of a CD stays the same.

As far as stealing programs, I only do it for programs that i really don't have a use for but just want to play around with. Photoshop, for example, i use just to do stuff, i don't use it for business and never make profit on anything I do with it. I am a college student, I can't afford 800 dollars but I want to mess around with it and I don't feel bad because I am not gaining anything, nor are thyey losing anything (because I would never buy it under any circumstance at this point in my life).

Because people are not rich, yet they want to have fun, relax, learn (if they're downloading something educating, they want to improve themselves.

If we lock ourselves in this legal/non-legal issue... you know what will happen? The NET and all its resources will be for the richies ONLY.

I also think illegal downloading caused for many prices for online stuff (music, ecards, etc) to go down, lots of stuff are cheaper.

Why does it feel wrong to steal from a store? Because you are harming the retailer, or the shop's owner.

Why does it NOT feel wrong to download something you shouldn't? Because you are robbing IDEAS, which eventually do lead to $$$$

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I'm with illegal downloading... I'm not with or against, I'm just saying what's behind this issue.

Although most teenagers do not know the laws surrounding illegally downloading audio, that is not plenty of of your safety if caught with unlawful tunes for your laptop or computer. Whenever you bond around the Web-Based, your IP address is traceable. Downloading illegal songs is very much like shoplifting a CD & could carry heavy effects.

I download music legally all the time. I have paid for my internet, computer, eletric etc. All of the tools to download music free compliments of the internet.

One of my friends had legal action saught against him for "downloading music" he fought the lawsuit and the court was in favor of my friend. So... If its something your morals tell you not to do, don't do it.
