Sex of course, I know that one. I've been married 11 years. Anything special work for you? Did your wife ever blow you away with an excellent gift or a surprise move?

Since he'll be expecting sex for valentines I think I 'll surprise him by tucking the kids away early the night before valentines (I'll run them hard till 7:30 then give them cough syrup and begin the bedtime routine, one extra dose of that cant hurt them) I think that will surprise him.

Love some of the ideas and sites, I usually write a poem related to the last year. And I left him notes all over one year. He's got them taped up in the closet. I really like the idea of writing letters and may do that leading up to V-day.
I'm still trying to think of a small tangible gift, I found a cool eiffle tower blueprint type tie that I'm considering since that was a favorite vaccation and I'm and engineer. But it's not very romantic so I may save it for another holiday.

Hoping for a few more ideas before the question closes.

note for those harping on my medicine comment. that wasnt the focus of teh question. Chill out with the medicine already. I may or may not use it and I'm not overdosing them either, plus they will probally have stuffy noses and need it to relieve congestion while sleeping thus allowing them to sleep better and be less prone to ear infection anyway.

BTW I got the idea from our peditrician who advised to give it to relax them before a flight. And I didn't even do it then because they were doing fine.

If you can give it to them every 4 hours when they have a stuffy nose how can one dose extra in a year harm them.

Gaila, I am glad I am not the only one who resorts to medicine to get the kids down early. Personally I use benedryl because it has the same sleep ingredient as Tylonol PM. Anyway. here's a suggestion.

For last Valentine's day, I wrote my husband three letters. I gave him the first one on February 10, the second on February 12, and then read aloud the third letter to him on Valentine's Day. The first letter is what I respected/admired about him (I covered his work ethic, his talents, his loyalty, being a dad, and being my friend). The Second letter is what I physically admired about him (think Song of Solomon in the bible) with how I love how he looks. The third letter is what I sexually admired about him (The things he does that I love both in bed and out of bed - like empting the dishwasher and playing with the hair on the nape of my neck when we're at the movies). I put the first two letters on his steering wheel so when he left for work he found them. The third letter I read to him (after giving the kids benedryl and putting them to bed early like you) while I was wearing a very sexy nightie, candles were lit, and some astro glide nearby. He loved it! He keeps the first two letters in his car to read when feeling down. The third letter is in the drawer next to our bed. I've read it to him a couple of other times since last Valentine's day and it aways leads to good things.... Best of luck to you!

Basically what I'm doing is that I'm giving him a memory box with some stuff I put together for him. I also made him a really nice card with a heartfelt poem that I wrote. I made him a poem book with pictures I have taken as well. : } I'm doing all this stuff because Valentine's is our first anniversary. ♥

Well, I found this great website that has a lot of ideas that people sent in. A lot of great ideas... cheap, creative, sweet. So if you need other ideas, here ya go:

I found an ad for a photographer that does '40's era pinup photos, and left it where my wife would find it.

No dice.

If I were married I'd want besides sex to come home to my favorite meal., a massage and a great night.

Thats great that you wanna impress your husband..but does it really impress him that in order to spend time with him you have to drug your kids. That's bad parenting. And i totally agree that child services should be called. It's called abuse and frankly it's disgusting.
