i don't want to be rude in any way!! but the best bred, healthiest ferrets will be about $150, plus the cage, toys, food, and more toys!! if you are not willing to spend much then i would reeeeally reccommend not getting one, but if you don't mind i will make a suggestion of a lower cost pet- gerbils, which are low maintenance, cute, playful, and don't cost but about $12 each. oh yeah and make sure that you do as much RESEARCH as possible before you get whatever pet you are gonna get!!
i hope this helps!!

If you're born here it's home. If you moved from out of state it's an acquired taste. If you are moving from an established, tight neighborhood to Florida you may find it's hard to grasp that which bonds you to a community. People come and go here. Other places in the country have more stable populations. If I was raising a family I wouldn't live in Florida. I'd pick a small town in Arizona. Lived most all my life in Tampa. It's a town with a lot of phony people. And a lot of them are predatory.

Ferrets are expensive because of the care that was put into them. Pet store ferrets generally cost less than a breeder's ferrets because they aren't as socialized or as well-bred. You're not going to find a $20 ferret. Ferrets are very expensive, high maintenance animals. Good food costs between $15-20 a bag, plus you have to buy special pelleted litter so as not to hurt their respiratory tracts, then the $100-$200 cage, plus bedding. Generally, 2 beds are good for one ferret, so that's about $20 altogether. Litter pans, and you'll need a bunch. I have 7 large pans in one room. Then there are vaccinations that the ferret requires: canine distemper and rabies. Plus you need nail clippers(unless you plan to have his/her nails clipped at the vet, which costs even more money). You'll need a food bowl and a waterbottle. Lots of toys(no rubber or things will small pieces). I use puppy pads around the litter boxes because one of mine refuses to use the box. Then I have to buy ear cleaner, their special tooth paste, treats. These are not cheap animals by a long shot!
If you're wanting a ferret, try reading "Ferrets for Dummies" by Kim Schilling. You'll be glad you did.

Why do you think it's sick to sell animals? Breeding is VERY expensive, and the owner of young animals have to pay for medical bills, food, and other expenses before they sell them. Adoption as well - the foster home of an animal incurs expenses - why shouldn't they be reimbursed for their kindness?
