i saw an incredibly disturbing film and it is on my mind. i don't want to dream about it. i have found before that thinking about what is on my mind properly and 'deciding' not to dream about it works but i'm not so sure with this. any tips? i think burying it by concentrating on other things might even be a worse idea

don't put your hands on your chest when you sleep and try not to think about the film

yes, you can. the 1st step is to think realisticly. a movie is a movie, and nothing will happen to you just because you watched it. then, i have read in a magazine that you can use this "self-convincement" trick to make your own mind deviate your dreams. this trick consists on thinking of something you would like to dream about (dont pick something "too good", because it will turn into a desire more than a self-convincing thought). you are supposed to repeat to yourself, in your mind, that you want to dream of that tonight. reapeat it several times while you reconstruct that nice dream.. and make sure you actually mean it. try to fall asleep while self-convincing. your nightmares should dissapear, or at least be much more light. do that for a few nights, and you will see it will eventually dissapear complitely. you'll end up laughing at youself! :)
good luck!

when I was pregnant I had a lot of really freaky dreams from pregnancy hormones. I found if I set the tv timer on, so it turns off in about an hour or so, then turn the tv onto something like Nickelodeon or a family type channel (scan what's on ahead so nothing 'scary' comes on later), and went to sleep, I would have better dreams........sometimes the stuff on tv would get in my dreams....like episodes of 'Rosanne' or 'Cosby Show', but it was always better than "Saw" or "Texas Chainsaw" !!!

also if you talk the WHOLE dream out with someone or write it out, that helps too!!!

Just make sure that before you go to sleep you concentrate on something else, and then you won't dream about it. Try for instance, your family, friends, or anything else that will keep your mind off of the movie.

i can usually control my dreams. But for you, I would reccomend reading a book before bed. Something that would catch your interest, and take it away from what you watched. Something either light, or funny, or even an adventure . . . but make sure it's nothing too negative.

Reading uses more of your mind than watching a movie. If you lose yourself to it, and then fall asleep, it should help.

Watch several hours of something you love, example: comedy television before going to sleep.

Keep the radio on while sleeping.

Both of these will help keep your mind from pulling up the film.

You dream constantly at night, and you forget it after a while. Yop only remember it if you wake up. That is why dreams always end in you waking up, so, no, there is no way, just try and not wakeup in the middle of a bad dream. What was the movie?

I think that if you concentrate on something good. Maybe something that you really enjoy. You will not dream about the film. Good Luck

I know its weird, but whenever that happens to me, I get a glass of milk and a dish of chopped up cheese. yeah, chopped up cheese. Then I eat the pieces of cheddar one by one, and after a few I take a sip of milk. If that doesn't work, I watch an action movie. Or I call a friend, Yeppers thats what I do.

Ummm...well i dont think there is anything u can do about it. A dream is mearly ur brains way of telling u a story. Some may be nice....others...not so nice. If u don't think about it before u go to bed...then i dont think u will have a dream about it. I tried. I hoped i helped! :)

best way to keep from disturbing dreams is to meditate before nigh-nights time... give over for 10 to 15 mins before bed and just let yourself go... all the negativity, self centered illusions, problems of stress and the job, dog or husband... and just relax... let yourself go... breathe in.... breath out... nice and slow.. by the end of your session you will be so relaxed that you will drift to sleep on peaceful thoughts rather than disturbed ones.. .
