Erm archeology? I'm currently doing a biology degree but I did you an arch one before dropping out (awsome subject) and I got on to that course with Bio, Geog and German A-levels :/

It doesn't really matter what you have as long as it's good. I would say history is a definite bonus though and possibly bio (depending on the course biological archeology might come up!)

Also try and get on some digs if you can, they can be quite competitive and some times you have to pay to do them (weird seeing as your helping I know)!

Good luck, and good choice!

If you want courses that will be practical as soon as you leave, take field school, courses in lithics and pottery, basic geology courses, and CAD courses. You only need the field school to get a job after college, but the others would be useful.

Really, though, take a variety of classes in different things. You won't know if you like something until you try it, and there are _so_ many things you can do in archaeology.

There are so many subdisciplines in archaeology that it's difficult to recommend classes if I don't know what your area of concentration is: are you interested in the geological aspects of archaeology, the more cultural aspects, the dietary habits, etc. I concentrated in zooarchaeology and in the Woodland and Missippian periods in the southeastern US. But hominids have been around for about 3.5 million years, so you're going to have to narrow it down a bit for yourself.

Zooarchaeology is cool. But I may just be saying that cuz I like hanging around in a lab full of bones all day, and because of my time period/region of expertise, I can't exactly do that with the human remains.
