I feel like a role like that is better played by an actor who is not well known. They should hold auditions and they will definently find the perfect match. I can't think of any well known actor who could play that role.

First of all no one will ever make a good freddy mercury. However, Johnny Deep researches all of his roles for months and litterally becomes the character. Depp is an ecomplished actor and should prove to be a good actor for this film.

Where are you getting this information from that he is PLAYING Freddy Mercury...perhaps you meant, WOULD J.D. make a good Freddy Mercury . Yes, there is buzz with the DeNiro company of considering him, but nothing has been clinched and it is far off as Depp is busy with three other films. But to answer what you ask, there isn't any role that he isn't a joy to watch in. I have seen ALL his movies, except for The Brave which is hard to find in this country. If you know of where a copy can be found (no, don't want to buy one on E-bay) let me know. Thanks! And the role of a rocker is a perfect match for Depp as that was what he was doing before he stumbled into film making via his pal Nick Cage.

Is that confirmed? Anyway, if he is.. I'm sure he'll do fantastic. He's like the "Biography Guy".. he's done a lot of real life people. Joe Pistone, Hunter S. Thompson/Raoul Duke, Ed Wood, George Jung, the 2nd Earl of Rochester -- he's doing Gregory David Roberts..

I don't know about Freddy Mercury, though. Maybe he wants to. I know before he wanted to take the role of Howard Huges and Chuck Barris-- both roles were given to other actors.

Johnny Depp disappears into his roles, so I really don't think him having a big name will take away from the quality of the story.

I would say he would make a good Freddie because he has musical talent as well as acting skills...BUT it is only a rumor that there will be a movie and that Depp will play him...His next movie is supposed to be Sweeney Todd directed by Tim Burton.

There is nothing listed in imdb.com that has him attached to do any movie related to Mercury or Queen.

Johnny Depp is very selective in the pictures he chooses to star in (unlike Bruce Willis for instance). Plus he is just an amazing actor. He will be great in this roll due to his phenomenal acting and really studying up on the character he will be playing. I can't wait to see it...even though I didn't know they were making a movie about Queen!

If anyone could do it, it would be Johnny Depp. He's an amazing actor who completely becomes who he plays. Have you seen "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"? He was Hunter S. Thompson/Raoul Duke. If this happens, he'll be wonderful. And I think Freddie Mercury would be happy about the decision, too.

Oooh, I didn't know he was doing that role, or even that such a movie was being made. But yeah, if Johnny Depp could make us believe he had scissors for hands, he could make us believe he was anyone.

Johnny Depp could play Martin Luther King and I would still watch.

He'll be fantastic. He wouldn't take the role if he didn't think he could do it justice!!!
