i just became sexually active at age 21 and i got my first BV infection when i starting to having sex with my boyfriend at that time. So i took medication but didn't finish it because i missed those dose and i was feeling better. So i was fine for couple of weeks until my first boyfriend and i broke up and I hooked up with a new guy and had sex wit him, after couple of days i notice that i have BV again. So i went to doctor after 2 or 3 weeks and she put me on Flagyl 750 ml for 7 days (1 tablet everyday). I started to feel better in the beginning but after 4 day i notice that i still have irritation and discharge. Today is my 7 days and i still have the discharge and foul smell. What should I do?. Will it go away? Do I have something serious?. Help me please.

This is the perfect example of why you complete ALL the medication prescribed to you for an infection. You have developed a resistant strain of bacteria, because you never finished your first course of medication. You need to return to the doctor, explain this to her, have her culture you for which antibiotic will now work for this resistant strain, and when she finds one that works, for pity sake, TAKE ALL OF IT, so you don't develop another resistant strain against which NOTHING WILL WORK. NEVER stop taking medication just because you feel better...you are given a certain amount for a reason.

You should be taking 500mg twice a day for seven days. And I hope you do know that you are not getting BV from you bf it's that you ph level are being thrown off by a man's semen, meaning you can wash with a soap you have never used and get it,or something could touch your vagina and throw your ph level off, anyway eat lots of yougurt go to gnc and ask for acidophilus 10billion.

Sorry to tell you this, but once you get BV, it will recurr every so often for the rest of your life. I've had it on and off for ten years now. I wish I had've used a condom, so I wouldn't have this problem right now.

Call your doctor and let them know you are still having symptoms. You may need a different antibiotic. Just remember to finish any medications. Even if you feel better in a few days. You still need to finish your medication.

Since the flagyl did not take care of the infection you need to call your doc to let him/her know so they can tell you what to do next. Call your doc.
