an emotional person, it has nothing to do with cutting wrists or listening to a type of music. Emotional people are more inclined to listen to music and watch movies that move them emotionally.

You want examples? Here are some broken down by sound and era.
Early-mid 90's - Sunny Day Real Estate - "Diary"
Jawbreaker - "24 Hour Revenge Therapy" and "Diary" (extremely hard to find altough they reissued it a couple of years ago)
Mid-late 90's (considered the "midwest emo" years)
Texas is the Reason - "If it's here when we get back, its ours"
The Promise Ring - "Nothing Feels Good" and "Very Emergency"
The Get Up Kids (my favorite band) "4 Minute Mile" and "Something to write home about" and anything else by them
Then there's hardcore influenced emo
Saves the Day - "Can't Slow Down" and "Through being Cool
Lifetime (although still in the hardcore camp but very influential in the emo scene) - "Jersey's best dancers" and "Hello Bastards"
Then there's whats considered new emo
Taking Back Sunday - "Tell all your friends" (the only one worth owning)
Dashboard Confessional - He writes good stuff so check out what you want (not for everyone)
There are more bands floating around but if you can find various songs by these you'll get the gist of emo. It's usually about relationships and friendships.
Oh also, check out Jimmy Eat World - "Clarity" and "Bleed American" and any of their other stuff, they are fantastic (2nd favorite band)

Emo...there are two kinds.
The first kind are the kids that are truly emo, they have issues at home and don't feel like their life has any purpose, like they want to die.
The others are a bunch of kids that like the way we look and copy the look and call themselves emo. It's dumb really, but nobody can do anything about it!

Someone who is very emotional. Emos cry a lot, have longish hair, and have lip rings. I know if people fit that describition that you can't assume their emo, but that's what they really look like, they pretty much all look the same.

emo firstly is short for emotional. these kids are emotional for a variety of reasons...mostly the averge onlooker would think of the reasons as typical of every teen adn really not any thing to get hyped about.
many emo`s are into harming there bodys to numb the pain they feel around them. but an even greater majority of the so called "emo`s" are just posers who want to give them selves a group and a name.
emo`s to me personaly are just poser punk rockers who have kinda evoled into what ever they are now

Emo is a culture of stupid little kids that believe they are being original by conforming to what all their friends are doing. Download the song " I must be Emo" for a pretty good definition.

emo is short for emotional
its a music genre..but people like to sterotype people as emos...
generally a emo kid wears black skinny legged jeans && band tees...black hair with a big side fringe, black eyeliner...&& is always "depressed" && writes a lot of poetry/songs && they cut their wrists...
but this sterotype..like any other isnt completely true....
i mean i get called emo && what not...&& i still believe its just a genre of music....but oh well.....labels are labels && they never go away...

it's just a stupid "label" to a type of music or the way you dress (tight pants, tight shirts, crazy hair, etc). it's ridiculous and it's ruining rock music!!!
a lot of these stupid emo kids like bands like Fall Out Boy, AFI, Yellowcard, Dashboard Confessional, The Used, 30 Seconds To Mars, Mars Volta, etc...
ex. see the way some of those bands "dress" to see emo style...

Um, well there's about a million definitions honestly. I believe that in music, it's not the lyrics but the sound and style of the music. In fashion, it could be anything from the hair half covering your face to tight jeans to wearing the color black. People are stupid when it comes to labeling and honestly, I think it's a fad that'll hopefully pass.
