NEVER leave a live rodent in your snakes cage if you can't keep an eye on it. 15 - 20 minutes is long enough for a rat to decide that it's gonna chew on your snake. This is not good and can KILL YOUR SNAKE. Even if you catch this happening BEFORE it's too late, it might still be too late due to infection.

I'll see if I can dig up some pics and if I can, I'll edit later.

If your snake doesn't take the mouse in 15-20 minutes, then take it out, try again the next day. If not then, wait a few more days before trying. Some snakes will go off feed in winter, but normally, a happy, healthy snake will eat. If yours isn't, check husbandry.
Leaving a rodent in with the snake will lead to your snake getting hurt.
Do you have to feed live? Some snakes won't eat frozen/thawed or prekilled rodents, but if yours will, that is the safest and most humane thing to do for snake or rodent, It is also cheaper. Freezing and thawing a rodent kills any parasites in the rodent which protects your snake. Your snake may be sick from eating rodents that were infested with parasites. Also, live feeding often results in harm to the snake even if the snake strikes instantly. Mice claws and teeth hurt.

Never leave a mouse/rat in with a snake/lizard if he doesn't eat it in the first day take it out and hook it up in its own pad for a few days. Left with the snake it can do some serious harm to the snake. They have long teeth that can penetrate the skin or eyes of the snake. Take it out feed it for a few days then try again.

i wouldnt leqave it in with the snake for too long, because it could cause the snake harm by biting it on the body or the eyes. if the snake hasnt eaten the mouse within a few hours you should take it out and try again in a week

I wouldnt leave it in longer then over night. Mice/rats can leave bad bites on your snake, leading to infection. More then likely if it hasnt eaten it by morning, its not going to for a little while. Take it out then try again 24 hours later.

You shouldn't leave the mouse in there too long, it will get hungry and harm your snake. If its already dead mouse, then er... dont know. Mine never didnt eat them.

If the mouse is for the snakes food, try longer. if her isnt hungry at the moment, leave it in there until he is hungry. He may want it later.
If the snake and the mouse are supposed to be both pets, DONT EVER PUT THEM IN THE SAME CAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mice are mainly used to feed snakes, and I garantee you the snake will eat the mouse. If the snake is a garden snake, i still may think the mouse is in danger.
