Yes everybody can fall in love (even the cruel, selfish and the conceited) but everybody is not lucky to get love in return. Love is a 2-way traffic. One way flow is not love.

Yes and they have selfish conceited cruel love. Read Wuthering Heights. Or watch Gone with the Wind. You just described the characters in some of the world's most romantic love stories...

Great question. The fact is that "even the most selfish, conceited, cruel people in the world" to use your words, need to be loved and to love. But the kind of love I write of here is not eros, nor philia, but rather agape love. When Jesus taught "love one another, just as I have loved you" in John 15, he meant that love was to be extended to anyone even one's enemies. And so my job as a disciple of his is to try my very most to love this "selfish, conceited, and yes even cruel person'. And what might be the reason that Jesus gave us this commandment? Well I believe that this is how we can bring someone like you have described to a point where they can change and become loving themselves. One thing that is undeniable about our Bible that is not found in the books of the world's religions and that is this concept of love. St Paul in his first letter to the Corinthian church devoted an entire chapter (13) to this subject.

NO. I can emphatically state to you that I have never fallen "in love" ever during my life. I do not believe I am selfish, nor conceited nor cruel. I just have no desire to fall in love, and having observed the huge numbers of marriage breakdowns and unhappy situations resulting thereafter perhaps I am more fortunate than most guys the way I am?

Sometimes. Depends on what you - and they - mean by love.

Some conceited people suddenly learn about caring for another, wanting to share who they are, and being with someone else more than with themselves. THat can be a real challenge.

Some fall in love, but it translates into the same selfish desire - I want, I need and they treat the other person more like property, whose existence is to make them happy. They are seldom happy.

Falling in love is a hormonal process- got hormones?
Choosing to love, to care for, to be loyal to, even when hormones kick in around a new person?
I don't really think so.
The cruel are selfish, and incapable of such thought.

First, you have to define what love really is?
Is it something you give, or something you recieve?
Is it just a match game in tennis?
Is it caring for others and not expecting something in return?
Is it selfish and does expect mutual compassion?
Is it just a mating sort of feeling?

It is hard to define what love really is. I guess you will come up with your own definition as to what love really is and make your own judgements.

I have spent the better part of my life studying my own inability to fall in love. I've come to the conclusion that a real s.o.b like myself will find it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to fall in love. It is, however, possible for someone else to fall in love with me. I've proven that on several occasions.
