Anywhere from 5-14 days. It's important that you don't try to pull, peel, or pick it off. It is a little gross, but part of a normal baby. I was told to put rubbing alcohol with a q-tip on the base of it to help it dry out. Not a lot, and only 2-3 times a day. It's also common for there to be a slight amount of dried blood on the embillical cord. Anyway, the general answer is between 5-14 days with the average around 7-9 days.

It should ALWAYS be 'left on' until it 'falls off naturally' because it is 'part of the body' and needs some time to 'wither and die' before it falls off. The time it takes can be anywhere from three days to three weeks, so if your baby's falls off sooner than that or later than that then I'd take the baby to the doctor to be sure 'everything is healthy there' ... otherwise, just keep it 'clean' by washing around it with a solution of 3 parts water to one part isopropyl alcohol, but be sure you don't use ANY alcohol to wash the 'rest of the baby' ... because it can 'lower' the baby's temperature and cause extreme brain damage. JUST WASH ABOUT 1/4 inch 'around' and then 'sniff' to be sure it's clean and isn't getting infected. And CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW BABY!

It depends. I've heard that it can fall off in as little as one day. My daughter's fell of on day #9. That seems about average since it does need time to heal and dry up before it falls off.

It took my daughter about two weeks. Just keep cleaning it with alcohol and it should dry up and fall off.

2 weeks. Don't get it wet or clean it with anything but a wet q-tip. The alcohol thing is old news. The docs say not to do that anymore.
