Your right, The 1st thing to do is to establish a network....

To do this You'll need
1) 2 network cards (most new PC's have intergrated LAN ports check your owners manual)
2) If both your machines are in the same room and you only want to connect 2 PC's, then get what is called a ROLLOVER cable and connect both PC's via the LAN Cards.

3) If both machines are not in the same room,, You have 2 choices
a) Go wireless, 2 new wireless network cards, wireless router/switch.
b) Run cables, Use regular network cards, get a switch (cheaper than a router and you don't really need a router)

4) Program both network cards
a) PC with modem IP address. 192.168.0.1
...............................Gateway 192.168.0.1
................................ DNS 192.168.0.1
b) Other PC .........IP address 192.168.0.2
........................Gateway 192.168.0.1
.............................................DNS 912.168.0.1

Hopefully you'll have a basic network...

Then follow "brians" suggestion and go to that web site to share you modem connection over the network.... If you Read and Following the directions it's rather easy. I have 4 PC's going through 1 Modem connection, but only for updating.. It rather slow (REAL SLOW) to have 2 pc's trying to surf at the same time via a 56K modem but it does work...

Anywho hope this helps

take a phone line and go to the back of the computer. there should be two ports where one fits. plug it into the one that is not occupied. plug that one into the one that you use to connect on the other computer. you may only be able to use one internet connection at a time though.

1. Buy a router or switch.
2. Install it with the CD.
3. That's it, but remember it is going to slow down your Internet speed.

you need to buy a router and hook up both to it follow the instructions on the router and use the network connection wizard in the control panel. please note...sharing a phone line at 26.6 means your connection time will realy suck big time...you should see if dsl is available in yiour area. its not that much more and is much faster for what you want to do.
