i think something that would get my attention would be something that had to do anything with:
pets
running (im a cross country runner for high school)
recent music
info on clothing stores like american eagle, ect... like if they get a crapload of new stuff or something.
food ideas that are fast and easy to make (as in like 5 minutes) and i am one of those people (like most other teens) that if the food has a long name, i dont want it sooo.
im in psychology so im always interested in how to persuade my parents to let me do stuff, so tips on persuasion would be really kool to see. haha just a thought.
time saving info. like a faster way to do your hair and stuff like that.
im 16 so right now, a lot of kids are working on getting their liscense, helpful ideas on how to get through the whole process would be something.
really good, yummy treats that are healthy. not some banana, strawberry, ice cream, and nuts with whip cream crap though. like i said, fast stuff. as young people, we dont want to take the time to make healthy stuff when we can js grab something unhealthy but SO good.
easy, cheap ways to liven up your bedroom or something like that.
good movies coming out and good movies that are recently going to be sold and at blockbuster.
these are just some things i can think of right now. hope i could help.

Well just a suggestion not really an answer but i would say something that is very controversial because you want kids to say something you want them to defend a side and talk about it and show them how things are in the real world so just something controversial such as War In Iraq or Stem Cell Research ..something like that i would imagine..
