Nothing ever ends, it just changes form.

Excellent question. Like anything else it is better to have some reason behind our opinions or philosophies. On this subject my thinking is based on the teaching of the Bible. Yes the world will end but the Bible teaches that only God, the Father knows the time. How will it end? Well we learn in the letters of St Peter that it will be by "some kind" of fire. Here is how the end will come. Jesus will return and the dead who believed in him together with those who are living and who believe in him will be gathered with him above the earth. Those left on the earth will be those who did not believe in him and are still in their graves along with all those left on the earth who were alive at his return but did not believe in him. This fire will sweep the entire universe. The sun, the moon, all the stars will evaporate in this "fire" of God. It will also sweep the earth killing all the unbelievers left on the planet, but leave the planet cleansed as it were of all the remnants of sin and once again in a pristine state. Jesus and those who had ascended and were with him above the earth will now come down to this new earth. The wicked dead will now be resurrected and along with all the dead receive new bodies. The final judgment will now be conducted by Jesus Christ. All the unbelievers will be cast into a lake of fire separated eternally from God and the host of believers who will live with God in a new city called the new Jerusalem. This is the cliff notes version of what we learn in mainly the New Testament of the Bible.

For humans, prolly within 200 years. We are pissing mother nature off something fierce and she is one tough beyatch when mad.

The globe itself will continue on its merry way for some eons to come. Once the sun Supernovas, the earth will be a dead rock in space. A few good meteors smashing into terra firma should be able to split us up and decay our orbit to the point where we might turn into a large icy meteor.

The only thing that will be left is dust and Donald Trumps toupee.

The Bible tells us that an astroid will be on a collision course in 2012. It also tells us God will smash it into pieces.

Scientists have discovered an astroid , using the Hobble Telescope, that will come so close to Earth, in 2012, that it will pass between Earth and our communication satilites. What is feared is the effect Earth's gravity will have on it. Will it be pulled from its orbit and what will happen when it returns 7 years later?

Other than that, your guess is as good as mine.

The world will end because of human error and not because of Earth's natural end billions of years from now!! It will happen because of hatred and bias for each others cultures. And, I'm afraid our country will be at the forefront of that end! I hope not, but we are getting out of line trying to change a culture ( Iraq) that also is out of line with the world!! We don't need to be trying to make them like us... They don't want us there, GWBush!!

Not sure... but the whole Mayan prophecy kind of freaks me out...

The Mayans said that the world will end on December 23, 2012.

literally, the planet will die when the sun collapses, from what I've heard it's in its mid-age, so no worries, it will last several thousand years.

But the human civilization will face it in probably 300 years. wars, lack of oil, hunger, aids, global warm, G. Bush, economic dispair, etc. these are problems that we're seeing coming but doing nothing to solve. That's what's gonna end the world, indifference.

this is not a matter of belief but matter of a fact. Nothing remain forever, and old dies and new is born. That which is born usually does not really care of its parental creators, for its vision directed forward.... That is a sequesnce of worlds we experiencing for centuries. Osama, for example does not care of its creators US agencies and a govermental structures, representing a threat to whole Country which give him birth....Moses too, got over royal family and whole Country , actually put it to death, that which created him big time...That is naked truth.
