I don't know what there name meens, but I can tell you what there album "From Under the Cork Tree" meens...

When he was a little boy, Fall Out Boy bassist and lyricist Pete Wentz enjoyed reading “Curious George,” “Babar” and Richard Scarry books, but his favorite children’s book was “The Story of Ferdinand” by Munro Leaf. The story, about a giant bull who sits under a cork tree and smells flowers instead of getting into the ring and battling a bullfighter, was so inspirational to Wentz that he titled the band’s breakthrough record From Under the Cork Tree.

Then they asked how they got here up with the call, and Pete pronounced "We have been at a instruct and somebody asked us what our bands call replaced into(they didn`t have one, so he says) and somebody interior the gang screamed 'Fall Out Boy' so we purely caught to it. " with the objective to respond to your question I don`t think of they have a meaning for their call by using fact they didn`t even call themselves. yet i be attentive to that for the duration of a few comedian Fall Out Boy is like somebody`s sidekick or something...... so as that`s how the newborn might have thought that up.

The story as it was told to me by Pete was that they didn't really have a name when they were playing the tiny club shows in Chicago. At one of their shows, someone yelled "Fallout Boy!" from the audience. Fallout Boy is Sideshow Mel's secret superhero identity from the Simpsons. It stuck, only they broke it up to say Fall Out Boy. =)
