I'm not getting my tubes tied!!!!!!!!!!!!! but I'm 9 months pregnant w/ #5. The youngest being a year next month. What do you other ladies reccomend as the best birth control? I'm 26 and healthy and not allergic to any kinds of medicine. What's your advice?

Are you not wanting a tubal for the surgical aspect, or because you're not sure you're done?
If it's the former, then consider a non-surgical sterilization procedure called Essure. MIcro-inserts are placed into your fallopian tubes and scar tissue grows to block the passage into the uterus.

Otherwise, I might recommend just about any hormonal contraceptive. All are 97+% effective in preventing pregnancy. I have used the shot and several types of pills and have had good success (as in never had a pregnancy scare) with them.

I did get pregnant with a diaphragm, so I can't recommend that. Nor can I recommend the IUD, but that's a personal choice because of side effects and eventual uterine puncture.

I think the best thing you can do is talk to your OB about your options now before you deliver. That way, depending on your child rearing choices (breast feeding specifically), you can make an educated decision on your options.

Well I would NOT recommend depo provera. Though it is nice to have a shot every three months, and not have a period, you get a lot of weight gain and horrible mood swings and spotting at weird times. The negatives far outweigh the positives.

I will recommend the birth control pill. there are so many kinds you'd have to talk to your doctor about what would be best.

That's a site about reviews about different birth control methods.

You could also suggest your guy get a vasectomy. If I remember correctly its a lot less invasive than getting your tubes tied. Don't let the contraceptive decision fall just on your shoulders!

I have had the nuvaring for about a year and I love it. You put it in and leave it in for 3 weeks take it out for 1 week, throw that one away then refill another one and repeat. The 1 week you don't have it in is when you have a period. I take mine out on a Sunday and on Thursday I will start, so it's very reliable. You cannot feel it and it will never come out on it's own. Sometimes it gets uncomfortable during sex so I take it out and when were done I rinse it off and put it back in. I am not sure that is such a good idea, though. But, so far so good.

Congratulations!

After taking a couple different kinds of bc (orthotricyclen, a generic brand, and orthotricyclen lo) I would say that the low hormone orthotricyclen has worked the best for me.

My doctor recommended that I switch to the low hormone because I was having your typical bc issues with the others. I've been taking it for 3 years, and haven't had any worries, and I haven't gained weight or anything like that.

It really does just depend on your body, I would just like to suggest that if you do choose a bc and you start having some really unpleasant side effects try a low hormone one instead.

i ought to flow with the IUD if I were you. I had the Mirena IUD for 3 years, and performance those days had it bumped off to attempt for toddler huge style 2. The IUD grow to be painless to get in, I had it put in at my 6 week verify up after my daughter grow to be born. that is possibility-free to apply when you're nursing your newborn, and it lasts for 5 years!!! Plus you do not should be stricken about pills or something else. the in hardship-free words imagine i did not understand when I were given the Mirena is it really is can take awhile on your menstral cycles to go back to generic after having the IUD bumped off. I had mine bumped off in December 2008, and contained in the previous couple months my cycles have finally again to generic, except that, I highly propose the IUD!

There is no one best birth control - every kind works differently with different women. You'll have to experiment and see which works best for you

I would recommend the Mirena IUD. I have had it for over 6 months and love it. I had no pain having it placed, and haven't had a real period either.

Nuva Ring is the best but its sorta grose to put in expeshally when you have never had sex before b\c you most likely have never had anything stuffed up your vagina. if you buy it, it will have instructions on have to insert and take out and all the other info needed.
hope i helped!

Keep your legs closed and tell him to keep it in his pants! In other words, abstinence. That's the only fool proof way...
