It's best in these circumstances to minimise the chances of it happening again. Planning is what counts in these situations. She needs to decide if she can live with this man (and it is her choice.) If she can't then help her plan a way out that ensures her safety, i.e. by kidding on everything is normal whilst secretly arranging a way to disappear.

I'm not an expert in relations but I do know that the advice some people have given here often just makes things worse. Phoning some helpline is probably a good idea as well but don't let him know about it.

Tell her to get some self-respect. She shouldn't let any one mistreat her and especially HIT on her. I don't know why people get in and stay in abusive relationships. You can always find another man and a better one at that. She should end things before things really get out of hand.

How about she pull a Lorena Bobbit on him?
She need to pack her stuff and bounce because next time it will be more than a slap.

Tell her to leave him, and fast....Theres no "I'm sorry, it will never happen again" from him. That is the beginning of an abusive relationship. Oh, and does she have big male relatives/friends that can go kick his a*s?

No person should ever be hit. Call the police have her file charges and let her stay with you! She needs all the comfort she can get. Whatever you do...do not let her stay with that loser!

Violent persons are not to be admired. It's in the Bible, Proverbs 3:31, NIV. "Do not envy a violent man or choose any of his ways."

RUN!!!
