All politicians are scumbags. The Republicans condemned Clinton all the time, every waking day for going to war to stop GENOCIDE for the love of God. Face facts; Bush has screwed Iraq up really bad. He should have been impeached for his incompetence, and failure to hold his administration accountable for their failures. If I had the lives of our troops in my hand, and was taking advice from people, I'd be like Darth Vader. They would know that their jobs are on the line every day, and their feet would be held to the fire all the time. It's a major responsibility governing this nation, and Bush, while he takes it seriously, needs to take it a lot more seriously.

You're not a troll, you present a very valid point, and that is that politicians care more about their party than they do this country.

Victory. Need to define what that is though. Bush 41 did it right - he gave Schwarzkopf a defined and achievable endstate. Schwarzkopf knew when his job was done. 10 bucks says Petraeus doesn't have it that simple - and that's my inherent problem with this administration's handling of the war. They've let the know-nothing staffers like Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld make operational decisions in the war. It's the reason Iraq is now the Tar-Baby it is - they have totally screwed the pooch. If you think I'm wrong read GEN Shinseki's testimony before the Senate, and then Wolfie's testimony the next day telling the Senate that Shinseki didn't know what he was talking about.

well, if we want to talk about liberals, I am one and I would prefer to see a new strategy. Unfortunately I think Bush has villainized himself so much before the Iraqi people (and people all over the world) that there has to be a perception of regime change in the U.S. in order to convince the Iraqis that our intentions are good. The new Congress would have been fine, but instead of coming up with a new strategy, Bush failed to back down and made it clear to anyone who's really paying attention that he's only willing to give more of the same.

As for the Democratic Party, well I'd like to think that if Bush actually came up with a decent plan (which he hasn't) they would try to steal the credit saying they forced him to do it instead of shooting down the plan... maybe it would be wrong, but if they really did see Bush's failure as more important than "victory", or achieving peace, then I'd be so POd I'd vote McCain.

Absolutely not. I know why you are saying that. I am a liberal, and I truly do feel that the some people in the Republican party would stop at nothing to stay in power - up to and including killing innocent Americans.

So I am answering your question sincerely. Can I honestly say that if I woke up tomorrow morning, and the next day, and the next day, and there were reports that things were turning around, and the killing got significantly reduced, and our policies were working, and some of our allies started supporting us, and there was hope - - would I support Bush?

Yes. I would. I would put aside my distrust and anger and I would support our President in resolving the disaster in Iraq.

I really mean that. (And I couldn't care less for Bush if I were in a coma).

What is most important is that the same mistakes do not continue which cause further death, debt and destruction.

The Bush administration needs to be held accountable for mismanaging the war and using scare and treachery tactics to keep the American people in line.

A victory in Iraq is preferred unfortunately the way to do it is to force this administration to have a better plan and be held accountable.

I won't call you a troll, but you are an instigator and if you are sincere with this question - - regardless if you are liberal, conservative, constitutionalists, independent, communist, etc. - you are either compromised mentally or extremely naive.

Oh, by the way, the answer is to your question is No. And I suspect that is what some people said the last time it was asked.

Bush IS a failure, not only a failure in the U.S., but for the World that needs no influencing the thinkers, Americans or the majority of citizens in Europe, etc., to see/analyze otherwise.

Liberals suffer from Bush Derangement Syndrome.

Its real and it's incurable.

When stricken with this incurable disease, liberals minds warp into anti-American terrorist supporting mean spirited bigoted hunks of quivering flesh with an appetite to appear in front of a camera somewhere.

Liberals would gladly sacrifice millions of lives abroad and here at home in they derranged attempt to discredit President Bush.

Blaming the fact the Bush looks like a failure is proof that Conservatives blame everything on Liberals.
