Especially if you can't get out of bed to go to work? Do you really burden family memebers with that big of a grocery bill?

I actually saw a program on discovery channel about super morbidly obese people (500+ lbs) and the sheer volume of food is mind blowing. I'm really curious to know how they afford it.

Did you mean to offend people on purpose?

Don't blab hurtful things before you know the whole story.
I have a close friend who was 300 lbs. due to a gland NOT over eating. The reason why she grew so much was because the doctors she had seen didn't care to research the problem well. Instead they put her on more meds, which made things worse and depression set in.
Thankfully she found a GOOD doctor who cared, now she is down to 189 and still losing weight.

Sometimes, people have tremendous medical problems that cause them to be "super morbidly obese". And there are other conditions equally appalling which may or may not be self-inflicted or self-induced that are mental in nature. There are govt. sponsored funding/programs available for helping these people. Also, no one is perfect and if they are a loving and supportive member of one's family then there is no reason to suppose that family or friends resent helping out. Also, have you considered that in this day and age they are quite capable of working from their home.

While I will assume that you did not intend for you question to be unkind I will however inform you that it IS unkind as well as tedious and awkward.

Look at Stephen Hawking. That guy doesn't talk or move, but he's probably very rich, and I think he holds a nobel prize (though not literally, because he can't hold ANYTHING).Then again, the work of a physicist requires a person who can stop thinking about food every once in a while.

General rule of thumb is that the cheaper food is, the worse it is for you. If you have a diet of slim jims, mcdonalds, and more slim jims, you should easily be able to afford the food you eat.

It’s probably more of eating high calorie foods than eating constantly. I wouldn’t really know, I’m not over weight, just putting out an opinion.

Some forms of obesity aren't caused by that persons eating habits. There are medical conditions, such as hypothyroidism that can slow a persons metabolism and cause them to be overweight.

Honest Answer. It depends on what they eat, how often they eat, how much they exercise, and their metabolism affects how much they weigh, not only the quantity.

I agree with the 3rd person. i mean, quite frankly they could just eat one meal a day, but because of that have no metabolism, and they might not excersize at all.

I'm not fat at 5.7' and 102 pounds, but I think your question is misdirected... it's not just how much they eat, but also WHAT they eat, their excercise habits and their metabolism.
